On the morning of January 17, the first meeting of Nanjing University's eighth Faculty Congress and nineteenth Trade Union Congress officially concluded. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the closing ceremony.
In his speech, Tan Tieniu pointed out that this conference was guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and subsequent plenary sessions, as well as the spirit of the eighteenth National Congress of the Chinese Trade Union and the requirements of the university's 12th Party Congress. It was an important meeting held during the inaugural year of the 15th Five-Year Plan and at a critical period for the university's accelerated construction of a world-class institution with Chinese characteristics. Tan Tieniu emphasized that, from the perspective of national development, we are currently in a crucial period of comprehensively building a modern socialist country and advancing towards the second centenary goal. The next five years are critical for NJU's construction as a world-class institution with Chinese characteristics, requiring all faculty and staff to work together diligently, to set a good start for the 15th Five-Year Plan, and to unite efforts for the construction of the "Unique Nanjing University." Tan Tieniu proposed requirements for the new Faculty Congress and Trade Union work and hoped that everyone would quickly assume their roles, actively engage in their work, and become promoters and practitioners of the conference spirit, striving to be models and examples in the construction of the "Unique Nanjing University," contributing more significantly to the new chapter of building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics and comprehensively advancing the great cause of national strength and national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.
Chen Yunsong, Vice Chair of NJU CPC Council, presided over the closing ceremony. The conference passed the "Resolution of the First Meeting of NJU's Eighth Faculty Congress and Nineteenth Trade Union Congress." Through voting by all representatives, Ma Xiaoxing and 24 others were elected as members of the Executive Committee of the eighth Faculty Congress, Ma Jinjun and 22 others were elected as members of the nineteenth Trade Union Committee, and Wang Yongmiao and 4 others were elected as members of the nineteenth Trade Union Financial Review Committee. Upon recommendation by the Presidium and a show of hands by all representatives, Wang Lijuan and 12 others were elected as members of the Faculty Congress's Committee for Democratic Management and Supervision, Ma Xiaoxing and 12 others were elected as members of the Faculty Congress's Proposal Committee, and Wang Jianfu and 10 others were elected as members of the Faculty Congress's Faculty Mediation Committee.

After the conference, Tan Tieniu, Vice President Lu Yanqing, and Chen Yunsong respectively presided over the first plenary meetings of the Executive Committee of the eighth Faculty Congress, the Financial Review Committee of the Nineteenth Trade Union, and the Committee of the nineteenth Trade Union. Chen Yunsong was elected as Director of the Faculty Congress Executive Committee, Wang Xinran, Li Tao, Zhang Haibo, and Tang Shaoqiu were elected as Deputy Directors, and Tang Shaoqiu as Secretary-General; Tang Shaoqiu was elected as Chairman of the Trade Union Committee, Wang A'ni as Vice Chairman, and Li Haijun and Luo Gang as part-time Vice Chairmen; Zhang Haibo was elected as Director of the Trade Union Financial Review Committee.
Members of the university leadership, representatives of the Eighth Faculty Congress, and representatives of the Nineteenth Trade Union Congress attended the meeting.
