On the morning of January 14, the "Suggestions for the 15th Five-Year Plan and New Development Discussions" New Year Symposium for Nanjing University deputies of the People's Congress and members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference was held on Xianlin Campus. Tan Tieniu, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Chair of NJU CPC Council, and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended and spoke at the symposium.
On behalf of the universiy party commitee, Tan Tieniu extended New Year greetings to NJU deputies and members at all levels. He attentively listened to their opinions and suggestions regarding the university's development, especially the formulation of the "15th Five-Year Plan". He praised their insights and speeches as "having vision, passion, responsibility, and quality." Tan Tieniu emphasized that over the past year, the university's educational endeavors have shown a positive trajectory of development. The year 2026 marks the beginning of the "15th Five-Year Plan", with the Party and the nation facing heavy tasks in various endeavors. The university is implementing the decisions and deployments of the Central Committee, with reform and development entering a "deep water zone", making the tasks very challenging. NPC deputies and CPPCC members at all levels have a glorious mission and significant responsibilities. Facing new situations, tasks, and requirements, they must grasp the three key themes: "consolidate the foundation, make comprehensive efforts, and serve as a link between past and future" to better focus on the center, serve the overall situation, and fulfill their duties.
Lu Yanqing, Member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial CPPCC and Vice President of NJU, introduced the overall ideas, basic concepts, and progress of the university's "15th Five-Year Plan" formulation. Jiao Ruihua, Vice Chair of NJU CPC Council, reported on the main achievements of the university's "Forging Ahead Initiative" in 2025, promoting high-quality development in various endeavors. Wen Yu, Memeber of the Standing Committee of the CPC NJU Committee, Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC NJU Committee, and Director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC NJU Committee, presided over the meeting and reported on the handling and implementation of opinions and suggestions from the 2025 NPC deputies and CPPCC members symposium.
Yang Zhong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial CPPCC and former Executive Deputy Secretary of the CPC NJU Committee, Suo Wenbin, deputy of Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress, Memeber of the Standing Committee of the CPC NJU Committee, Vice President of NJU, and more than 20 NPC deputies and CPPCC members spoke, based on their positions and experiences, focusing on the university's development and the "15th Five-Year Plan". They offered advice on topics such as technological self-reliance, scientific research performance evaluation, organized research, AI empowerment, interdisciplinary integration, talent team building, cultivation of top innovative talents, open education, Suzhou campus construction, and social services. Tan Tieniu interacted and exchanged views with the representatives and members regarding the relevant opinions and suggestions.
Li Bin,Memeber of the Standing Committee of the CPC NJU Committee, Assistant President of NJU, and Director of the General Office, along with heads of relevant functional departments, attended the symposium.
