Vice Minister of Education Du Jiangfeng visits NJU Suzhou Campus

On January 13, Du Jiangfeng, Member of CPC Leading Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, led a team to investigate Nanjing University Suzhou Campus. Accompanying him was Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Du Jiangfeng and his team conducted on-site investigations of the Ren Yuan "one-stop" student community, Cheng Yuan "one-stop" student community, student dormitory model rooms, the eighteenth cafeteria, the western teaching building, and the library. They gained a deep understanding of the construction and development of the Suzhou Campus and extended their regards to the faculty and students. He listened to introductions about the construction philosophy, operational model, and educational outcomes of the student communities and inspected the infrastructure and usage of areas such as student dormitories, dining areas, classrooms, and study rooms.

During the investigation, Du Jiangfeng learned in detail about the overall situation and learning and living experiences of students in Suzhou. He pointed out that NJU has adhered to high standards in completing the construction of the Suzhou Campus, fully reflecting a deep integration of Suzhou style and NJU characteristics. A series of innovative explorations have been made in creating a new educational ecosystem, achieving phased results. Further optimization of resource allocation and functional layout is needed, actively undertaking the task of expanding undergraduate capacity, orderly increasing undergraduate enrollment, precisely serving the actual needs of faculty and students, and creating a more modern university campus environment. This will better explore new paths and open new horizons for promoting the integrated development of education, science, and technology talent.

Tan Tieniu introduced the basic situation of NJU Suzhou Campus from aspects such as construction and development history, scale of operations, discipline construction, and talent cultivation. He pointed out that the construction of the Campus adheres to meeting the needs of faculty and students, deeply integrating NJU's rich historical context, and is committed to comprehensively improving faculty and student satisfaction and happiness. Tan Tieniu expressed hope that the Ministry of Education will continue to care for and support the construction and development of NJU Suzhou Campus, jointly promoting its development to a new level, and contributing greater strength to the construction of a strong nation and the great rejuvenation of the nation.

Participants in the investigation included Guo Peng, Director of the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Education, Wu Qingwen, Deputy Secretary of the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Suzhou Municipal People's Government, Nanjing University leaders Suo Wenbin and Jiang Tian, as well as leaders from the Jiangsu Education Department, Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal People's Government, and relevant units of Nanjing University.
