Tan Zhemin visits partner universities in Japan and South Korea

From May 28 to June 3, 2023, Tan Zhemin, President of NJU, led a delegation to visit partner universities in Japan and South Korea. They visited the University of Tokyo, Waseda University, Nagoya University, Hokkaido University, Hokkaido Information University, Seoul National University, Korea University, and Konkuk University. The delegation consisted of representatives from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, School of Foreign Studies, and Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges.

Tan met with Teruo Fujii, President of the University of Tokyo.

Tan met with HANEDA Masashi, Director of Tokyo College, The University of Tokyo.

Tan and Masahiko Gemma, Vice President of Waseda University, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum for Cooperation between NJU and Waseda.

Tan met with NJU alumni studying at Waseda, and listened to their suggestions and proposals on the development of NJU.

Tan visited Institute for Chemical Reaction Design and Discovery (ICReDD) at Hokkaido University, one of Japan’s premier research centers.

Tan met with Jun Nishihira and Shigeto Watanabe, President and Vice President of Hokkaido Information University, and the two sides signed an international exchange agreement.

Tan and Dong-one Kim, President of Korea University, renewed the Cooperation Agreement.


During this visit, the delegation also met with the representatives from the NJU Alumni Club in Japan, and introduced them the latest  achievements and development plans of NJU.

During this tour, Tan engaged in productive discussions with the leaders of the partner universities. The discussions coverd a wide range of topics, such as research cooperation,  academic exchanges, discipline construction, personnel training, and student entrepreneurship. The exchange of valuable views allowed the universities to explore new areas of collaboration and identify opportunities for mutual growth and development.
