Osman Parlak is a Full Professor in the Department of Geological Engineering at the University of Cukurova, Adana, Turkey. He completed his PhD on "Tethyan ophiolites" in the Department of Mineralogy at Geneva (Switzerland) University in 1996. He has been working in the Geological Engineering Department at Çukurova University since 1997 and was assigned as a Full Professor since 2006. He continued his research as a postdoc in Department of Geology at Salzburg University in the frame of Lise Meitner Fellowship (Austrian Science Foundation) during 1997 and 1998. He has been also visiting scientist at the University of Geneva (Switzerland), Keele University (UK), Hannover University (Germany) and Nanjing University (China).
Osman Parlak conducted number of research projects on petrology and geochronology of ophiolites along the suture zones in Anatolia. He published around 100 papers in international journals and co-edited three volumes.
He received "The Outstanding Young Scientist Award-Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA)" in 2003, Young Scientists Encouragement Award (TÜBITAK) in 2005 and EAGE 2013 Norman Falcon Award (European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers).
He has been a member of scientific committees, special session organizer, and organizing committee member for international academic conferences.
