On March 28, 2026, the unveiling ceremony of the Iris Chang International Peace Research Center and the Iris Chang International Peace Foundation was held at Xianlin Campus of Nanjing University. The Center and the Foundation were jointly established by the School of International Studies of Nanjing University, the Collaborative Innovation Center of South China Sea Studies, and Golden Eagle International Group.
The ceremony was attended by Gu Wanfeng, Executive Deputy Director of the United Front Work Department of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee; Chen Yong, Vice Chairman of the Nanjing Municipal CPPCC; Zhou Feng, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders; Wang Heng, Chairman of Golden Eagle International Group; Chen Yunsong, Vice Chair of the University CPC Council; and Zou Yajun, former Standing Committee Member of the CPC Nanjing University Committee and former Vice President of Nanjing University.
Witnessed by distinguished guests, the Center and the Foundation were officially unveiled. Feng Fan, Secretary-General of the Nanjing University Education Development Foundation, presented a certificate of appreciation to Wang Heng. During the event, a public call for proposals for the commemorative statue of Iris Chang was launched.
The event also included A roundtable discussion themed “Historical Memory and the Future of Peace: Contemporary Inheritance of the Spirit of Iris Chang”. Scholars and experts engaged in in-depth discussions on global dynamics, China–U.S. relations, and the communication of peace narratives, highlighting the importance of peace studies and effective international communication in an increasingly uncertain world.
At the conclusion of the event, all participants stood and collectively recited the Declaration of Peace. The ceremony was hosted by Li Yuehua, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of International Studies, with the participation of scholars and media representatives.
