On January 13, the 11th Congress of the Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology convened in Nanjing. Xin Changxing, Secretary of the CPC Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, attended and delivered a speech. You Zheng, Vice Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, read a congratulatory letter from the China Association for Science and Technology. Liu Xiaotao, Governor of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government; and Zhang Yizhen, Chairman of the Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference were also present.
Xin Changxing, on behalf of the Provincial Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, the Provincial Government, and the Provincial CPPCC, congratulated the opening of the congress, extended sincere greetings to the vast number of scientific and technological workers in the province, and expressed heartfelt thanks to the China Association for Science and Technology for its long-term concern and support for Jiangsu's development. After fully affirming the achievements of the provincial association's work over the past five years, Xin Changxing pointed out that on the new journey, it is necessary to deeply study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important discourse on scientific and technological innovation and his important speeches on Jiangsu's work. We must bravely take on responsibilities, strive for excellence, accelerate the construction of a high-level scientifically and technologically strong province, and make new and greater contributions to writing a new chapter in the modernization of a "strong, prosperous, beautiful, and high" new Jiangsu. Party committees and governments at all levels across the province must accord the work of the Association for Science and Technology a prominent position, creating favorable conditions for the association to fulfill its responsibilities and play its role. Associations at all levels should base themselves on the "four services" responsibilities, better play the role of a bridge and link, and truly become a warm and trustworthy home for scientific and technological workers.
On January 14, the congress concluded in Nanjing. Xu Ying, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department of the Provincial Party Committee, attended the closing meeting and delivered a speech. The meeting reviewed and approved the work report of the 10th Committee of the Provincial Association and the implementation rules of the "Charter of the China Association for Science and Technology", and elected the new committee of the Provincial Association.
Tan Zhemin, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and President of Nanjing University, was elected as Chairman of the 11th Committee of the Jiangsu Association for Science and Technology. Liu Zhihong, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) and Professor at Jinling Hospital affiliated with NJU, Ren Hongqiang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor at Nanjing University School of Environment, were elected as Vice Chairmen of the 11th Committee. Shi Yi, Academician of the CAS and Professor at NJU School of Electronic Science and Engineering, was elected as Member of the Standing Committee of the 11th Committee.
