On April 27, the "Leading Universities Hunan Tour: Hunan Province 2026 Higher Education and High School Collaborative Education Exchange and Connection Activity," hosted by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, was held in Changsha. Tan Tieniu, Chair of Nanjing University CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to attend and delivered a keynote speech, sharing NJU's explorations and practices in cultivating outstanding innovative talents at this historical juncture of national rejuvenation and global change.

Tan Tieniu pointed out that the current new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation is accelerating, and the cultivation of top innovative talents has become a strategic task related to national development and the future of the nation. High-level research universities must remember their mission of educating people for the Party and nurturing talents for the country, proactively serving national strategic needs, and focusing on cultivating a new generation capable of shouldering the responsibilities of national rejuvenation.

Tan Tieniu systematically introduced the inheritance and innovation of NJU's undergraduate talent cultivation. From the "Three-Three System" undergraduate talent cultivation model to the construction of the "Three-Dimensional Four-Dimensional" talent cultivation system, and actively adapting to changes of the times by promoting the "Three Transformations" that integrate artificial intelligence into the entire education and teaching process, NJU has demonstrated a glorious tradition in undergraduate education and teaching. Its innovative concepts, reform explorations, and effective practices have consistently led the nation and maintained a leading position. Focusing on the "Forging Ahead Initiative" for cultivating outstanding innovative talents at the undergraduate level, the university strives to build an exceptional and leading talent cultivation system, enhancing its reputation as the "first brand" in undergraduate talent cultivation.
Regarding the promotion of collaborative education between universities and high schools, Tan Tieniu stated that NJU is committed to building an integrated education system that connects universities and high schools, implementing the "Zero-Year Plan" and the "Leap Plan," promoting quality resources to penetrate into high schools, and conducting preemptive discipline enlightenment, research experience, and career guidance. Relying on the Strong Foundation Plan to select and cultivate outstanding talents in basic disciplines, it collaborates with quality high schools to identify, guide, and nurture students with innovative potential early on.
Tan Tieniu expressed that NJU will remember the General Secretary's call for the "Unique Nanjing University," adhere to the principle of moral education, promote self-reliance and strength in science and technology, and continue to deepen its cooperation with high-quality high schools in Hunan, contributing the strength of NJU to national construction and national rejuvenation. He warmly welcomes outstanding students from Hunan to choose NJU, realize their dreams there, and contribute their wisdom and strength to national construction and rejuvenation with their youth and efforts!
During the exchange, the heads of the Undergraduate School and the Undergraduate Admissions Office, along with the Hunan Admissions Group, participated in a series of online and offline recruitment promotional activities.
This event established an important platform for collaborative education between universities and high schools. The exchange further deepened the practical cooperation between NJU and the basic education sector in Hunan, gathering new consensus and expanding new pathways for accelerating the independent cultivation of top innovative talents.
