On April 25, Tan Tieniu, Chair of Nanjing University CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, led a delegation to Hunan for research. He visited representatives of NJU's selected graduates in Hunan and engaged in discussions. The delegation also conducted research at Huanan Optoelectronics (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huanan Optoelectronics") and visited NJU alumni representatives in Hunan. Wang Wu, Deputy Minister of the Organization Department of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee, Wang Renxiang, Deputy Director of the Hunan Provincial Department of Education, and Song Zhiqiang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Huanan Optoelectronics, attended the meeting.

Tan Tieniu visited representatives of NJU's selected graduates in Hunan and engaged in discussions. On behalf of the university, Tan expressed gratitude to the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Government for their care and support for NJU and its alumni in Hunan. He pointed out that the achievements, responsibilities, and talents exhibited by the selected graduates in their respective positions made the alma mater deeply proud. Tan Tieniu introduced the basic situation and fruitful results of NJU's development in recent years. He noted that Hunan Province has a long cultural heritage and a profound red legacy, and that the selected graduates, grounded in the vast land of Hunan, have great potential and a promising future. He encouraged the selected graduates and alumni to continuously strengthen their theoretical foundation, align with the political direction, forge a loyal spirit, uphold their commitment to the people, strive for practical responsibility, hone their skills, promote good conduct, and cultivate integrity. Tan expressed hope that organizations at all levels in Hunan would continue to care for and support the growth and development of NJU's selected graduates in Hunan, and he encouraged them to write their wonderful coming-of-age stories on this fertile land.

Wang Wu hosted the meeting. He pointed out that Nanjing University has a long history and a prestigious reputation. In recent years, Hunan Province and NJU have deepened and expanded practical cooperation in talent development, enrollment work, and achieved a series of results. The "Wisdom Gathers in Xiaoxiang, Talents Gather in Hunan" Talent Day event for NJU in 2025 was particularly effective and received enthusiastic responses. Wang Wu introduced the basic situation of the eight representatives of Nanjing University's selected graduates in Hunan. He expressed hope that the representatives would draw new strength from the meeting and looked forward to further enhancing exchanges and cooperation between Hunan Province and NJU, with NJU continuing to supply more top innovative talents for the high-quality development of Hunan Province.

Suo Wenbin, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC NJU Committee and Vice President of NJU, introduced the university's basic situation and development achievements from various aspects, including achieving new heights in discipline construction, significant results in talent cultivation, improving both the quantity and quality of the team, solid advancement of multi-campus education, and frequent reports of technological innovation. He expressed hope that the selected graduates and alumni would maintain their aspirations while also being grounded in reality, and he hoped that the relevant departments of Hunan Province would continue to care for and support NJU's selected graduates, forging a youthful iron army capable of bearing heavy responsibilities.

Representatives of NJU's selected graduates in Hunan shared their experiences and insights from working at the grassroots level. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to NJU and the various organizations in Hunan for their care and training, stating that the university's motto, "Sincerity with Aspiration, Preseverance with Integrity" serves as a solid foundation and motivation for them as they move forward. They vowed to carry on the spirit of NJU, integrating the "small self" into the "big self," and using practical actions to interpret the responsibilities and commitments of NJU students, striving to become selected graduates who make their alma mater proud, gain the trust of their organizations, and satisfy the public in this new era.
At Huanan Optoelectronics, Tan Tieniu introduced the history and evolution of NJU, the development pattern of multi-campus education, discipline construction, talent team building, and talent cultivation. He pointed out that Huanan Optoelectronics focuses on the optoelectronic information industry, making important contributions to national defense and military development. NJU has deep ties with Huanan Optoelectronics, with many of its advantageous disciplines highly aligned with the development of the optoelectronics industry, providing a broad space for cooperation. Tan expressed hope that both sides could continue their deep-rooted relationship, remain focused on "national affairs" and bear "national responsibilities," further deepen cooperation, and jointly enhance the important role of national strategic scientific and technological forces.

Song Zhiqiang introduced the basic situation and outstanding achievements of Huanan Optoelectronics. He noted that Huanan Optoelectronics is committed to serving national security, with special products covering land, sea, air, and space. NJU has a long history and profound heritage. The two sides are interconnected and have a long-standing relationship. Song expressed hope that South China Optoelectronics and NJU could continue to strengthen cooperation in areas such as deep integration of industry, academia, and research, working together to make new and greater contributions to serving the country's major strategies and regional economic and social development.

Wang Renxiang pointed out that NJU and South China Optoelectronics not only have deep roots but also bright prospects for cooperation. He expressed hope that NJU and South China Optoelectronics could write new chapters and create a future together, promoting deep integration of industry and academia. The education departments at all levels in Hunan Province will also fully cooperate and provide support to help both parties achieve fruitful cooperation, injecting new momentum into the economic and social development of Hunan Province.

At the Xingxiang National Science and Technology Innovation Park, Tan Tieniu visited the alumni representatives of NJU in Hunan and engaged in discussions. He fully acknowledged the work achievements of the Hunan Alumni Association and pointed out that the suggestions and advice from the alumni reflect their deep feelings and concerns for their alma mater. The vast number of alumni in Hunan have rooted themselves in the land, contributing silently, and have demonstrated the spirit and qualities of NJU in various fields, making the alma mater deeply proud. Tan Tieniu introduced the solid progress of NJU's "Forging Ahead" Initiative and its achievements in recent years. He noted that with the vast landscape of Hunan in mind and facing the grand blueprint of "three highs and four new," the many alumni in Hunan have great opportunities to contribute. He encouraged everyone to have a sense of national responsibility, maintain the spiritual essence of NJU, root themselves in Hunan, serve the high-quality development of Hunan, keep the alma mater in their hearts, and continue to write new chapters of collaboration between the university and the region, becoming a bridge for deepening and expanding exchanges and cooperation between NJU and Hunan Province. Tan Tieniu stated that the alma mater will always be a strong support for alumni and wished everyone better development in Hunan, achieving personal ideals and values through tireless efforts to serve the country and society.

The attending alumni representatives introduced the basic situation of the NJU Hunan Alumni Association's work, shared their experiences and insights from working in Hunan, and engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics such as alumni work planning, industry-academia-research cooperation, and talent team building. They expressed that the achievements of the alma mater have greatly inspired them and hoped that NJU could further deepen coordination with local areas and strengthen cooperation with enterprises, continuously achieving new breakthroughs and reaching new heights.

Before the meeting, Tan Tieniu and his team visited the Xingxiang National Science and Technology Innovation Park, engaging in discussions with representatives from enterprises and students on topics such as key technological innovation and the transfer and transformation of achievements.
