On March 31, Wang Chengbin, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Philosophy adn Social Sciences (JSFPSS), led a team to Nanjing University. Tan Zhemin, President of NJU and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, met with Wang Chengbin and his delegation at the Xianlin campus.

Tan Zheming, welcomed Wang Chengbin and his team, expressing heartfelt gratitude for the JSFPSS's long-standing support for NJU. He pointed out that in recent years, NJU has been committed to promoting the humanities and social sciences beyond its campus and internationally, focusing on deepening research on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, exploring new paths for applying outstanding traditional Chinese culture in modern societal development, and actively serving Jiangsu and the Yangtze River Delta's regional development. NJU aims to contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind and to scientifically address questions concerning China, the world, the people, and the times. Centered on the task of constructing an independent knowledge system, the university has adhered to innovation and has achieved a series of landmark results. Tan Zheming stated that NJU has a close relationship with the JSFPSS, with a solid foundation for cooperation. Both parties have engaged in extensive and in-depth exchanges and collaborations in various fields, including academic research, think tank development, and social services, yielding fruitful results. He hopes that the JSFPSS will continue to care for and support NJU, providing more guidance and assistance in areas such as the construction of high-end think tank platforms, sharing academic resources, connecting schools and enterprises, and transforming results, working together to promote the high-quality development of philosophy and social sciences at NJU, and making new and greater contributions to the prosperity and development of Jiangsu's philosophy and social science endeavors, as well as serving the new practices of Chinese modernization in Jiangsu.
Wang Chengbin fully affirmed the achievements and contributions of NJU in its development. He noted that during this year's Two Sessions, General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized that economically strong provinces should focus on researching new situations and solving new problems, and share their experiences. The JSFPSS will further unite social science workers to accelerate the construction of an independent knowledge system in Chinese philosophy and social sciences. It will seek to identify key directions in serving the "major national issues" and "important provincial matters," focusing on the "topics" selected by the Party Committee and government, the "challenges" faced by enterprise development, and the "questions" posed by the people, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and action in providing answers. Looking to the future, the JSFPSS, will continue to strengthen work exchanges and cooperation with NJU, supporting the university in leveraging its advantages, enhancing interdisciplinary integration, and promoting the empowerment of philosophy and social sciences through artificial intelligence, making greater contributions in the process of promoting high-quality development in philosophy and social sciences, and better serving the national strategic landscape and regional economic and social development.
During the research visit, Wang Chengbin and his delegation held discussions at the NJU Chinese Civilization Digital Innovation Laboratory, gaining an in-depth understanding of the university's explorations and practices in empowering the preservation and organization of ancient texts, research on Chinese civilization, and cultural heritage protection through digital technology.
At the meeting, Chen Yunsong, Vice Chair of NJU CPC Council, introduced the historical heritage, current foundation, overall approach, and landmark achievements of the university's development in the humanities and social sciences. He stated that NJU has always adhered to serving "the needs of the nation" and "the needs of Jiangsu" based on its strong academic traditions, continuously promoting disciplinary focus, interdisciplinary innovation, and platform construction, and enhancing the capacity of the humanities to serve major national strategies and local economic and social development.

Both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as the construction of an independent knowledge system in Chinese philosophy and social sciences, the research and interpretation of the Party's innovative theories, the inheritance and development of outstanding traditional Chinese culture, the transformation of the humanities empowered by digital technology, and the service of social sciences to enterprise development.
During the visit, Wang Chengbin and his delegation also toured the Ancient Text Activation Laboratory at the NJU Library.
Officials and experts from the JSFPSS, NJU Office of Humanities and Social Sciences, and other relevant units participated in the research.
