On March 29, representatives from Nanjing University and GoerGroup met in Nanjing to sign a strategic cooperation agreement, which marks the joint establishment of the "Nanjing University—Goertek Joint Research Institute". Prior to the signing ceremony, Zhou Hongbo, Secretary of the Nanjing Municipal Party Committee , met with Jiang Bin, Chairman of GoerGroup, and members of his delegation. Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), attended the meeting.
Zhou Hongbo, Tan Zhemin, Jiang Bin exchanged opinions and agreed on leveraging Nanjing city's strengths in science, education, talent resources and industrial base to reinforce Goertek's role as an industry leader. They also expressed mutual commitment to strengthen "Industry-University-Research" collaborative innovation at Nanjing University, and enlarge the investments in the fields such as "AI + Acoustics" and "AI + Smart Devices", thereby enhancing Nanjing's status as a globally advanced hub for interdisciplinary innovation in acoustics and artificial intelligence.

Cheng Yunsong, Deputy Chair of NJU CPC Council, and Gao Xiaoguang from GoerGroup signed the strategic cooperation agreement on behalf of the two sides.

Wu Di, Head of the Office of Science and Technology of NJU, and Liu Yaocheng from GoerGroup signed a document to jointly establish the "Nanjing University-Goertek Joint Research Institute" on behalf of both parties.

Xu Feng, Vice Mayor of Nanjing City, and Li Bin, Assistant President of NJU, attended the meeting and signing ceremony.
GoerGroup is a world-leading provider of precision audio-visual-electronic components and smart device solutions. The partnership between Nanjing University and GoerGroup did not come about overnight, but is the result of nearly two decades of close collaboration and mutual support. Since GoerGroup made a donation in 2016 to support the development of acoustics within the Department of Physics at Nanjing University, the collaboration between the two parties has expanded from a single discipline to multiple fields, and has extended from talent development to technical exchange, becoming increasingly deep and substantive. This signing represents not only a natural response to the national strategy for the integrated development of education, science and technology, and talent, but also a mutually beneficial initiative that leverages each party's strengths to drive scientific and technological innovation.
According to the documents, the two parties will adopt a mechanism of "mutual innovation under joint strategic guidance to fulfil mutual demand", to promote the development from "follow-on R&D" to "pioneering innovation". The "Nanjing University–Goertek Joint Research Institute" will focus on major national needs, undertake original innovation, and inject powerful momentum into the high-quality development of China's electronic science and information industry.
