On February 10th, Zhang Yizhen, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairperson of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), visited Nanjing University and extended greetings to Tan Zhemin, President of Nanjing University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Zhou Zhihua, Vice President of NJU and Academician of the CAS. She conveyed sincere regards and New Year wishes to them and conducted research on the development and research of artificial intelligence technology.
Zhang Yizhen conversed warmly with the two experts, listened to their opinions and suggestions in detail, and expressed that Jiangsu will continue to support the development of universities, creating a favorable environment for experts and scholars to focus on research and make achievements.
At the Institute of Machine Learning and Data Mining of NJU, Zhang Yizhen attentively listened to Zhou Zhihua's report on the development of machine learning, data mining, and cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies. She carefully examined key technological achievements and application demonstrations, and gained detailed insights into the team's progress in basic research, tackling key core technologies, collaborative innovation between industry, academia, and research, and talent cultivation. She emphasized the need to deeply implement the important discourse of General Secretary Xi Jinping on scientific and technological innovation and his important speeches and instructions regarding Jiangsu's work, to continuously leverage NJU's disciplinary advantages, advance artificial intelligence plus multidisciplinary construction and science popularization, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements, focus on the integration of scientific and industrial innovation, take the lead in the application field of artificial intelligence industry, and inject stronger momentum into the high-quality development of Jiangsu's artificial intelligence industry.
Subsequently, accompanied by Tan Zhemin and Zhou Zhihua, Zhang Yizhen toured the Xianlin campus, experiencing the campus cultural atmosphere and educational heritage firsthand. At the Nanjing University History Museum, Tan Zhemin introduced the historical evolution and educational achievements of NJU to Zhang Yizhen, and together they visited the special exhibition of distinguished alumnus Yu Jizhong. Zhang Yizhen expressed appreciation of NJU's spirit embodied in its motto "Sincerity with Aspiration, Perseverance with Integrity", and its outstanding achievements in talent cultivation, scientific research, and social service.
