On January 30, Wang Hua, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the CAS Shanghai Branch, visited Nanjing University to extend New Year greetings to Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the CAS; Zheng Hairong, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC NJU Committee and Executive Vice President of NJU and Academician of the CAS; and Zhou Zhihua, Vice President of NJU and Academician of the CAS.

Tan Tieniu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the CAS for its concern and support for NJU's development. He noted that in recent years, NJU has implemented the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important reply to young scholars returning from overseas, achieving fruitful results in discipline construction, scientific research innovation, campus development, talent cultivation, open education, and social services. Tan emphasized that NJU continually optimizes its disciplinary layout to meet national needs and focuses on cultivating top-notch innovative talents to better serve regional economic and social development. He expressed hope for continued collaboration with the CAS in team building, talent cultivation, and industry-academia-research integration to contribute significantly to the integrated development of education, science, and talent.
Wang Hua introduced the basic situation of the CAS Shanghai Branch. He highlighted that in recent years, the branch has thoroughly implemented President Xi Jinping's important directives, promoting integrated development in education, science, and talent, and strengthening the deep integration of technological and industrial innovation. He emphasized expanding cooperation and exchanges with universities and other research institutions, exploring new paths for industry-academia-research collaboration, and facilitating the transfer and transformation of research achievements. Wang expressed anticipation for pragmatic cooperation in discipline construction, project tackling, platform building, talent cultivation, and integration in the Yangtze River Delta region to fulfill the mission and responsibility of national strategic scientific and technological power.

Zheng Hairong emphasized that NJU has organized major research tasks focusing on world science frontiers, economic battlegrounds, national needs, and people's health, implementing the "789 Science and Technology Tackling Plan" to enhance the effective supply of scientific and technological achievements. He expressed optimism about the complementary strengths and promising cooperation prospects between NJU and the CAS, aiming to jointly advance scientific research and innovation for high-level technological self-reliance.

Zhou Zhihua shared NJU's achievements in promoting graduate education reform and enhancing internationalization. He expressed hope for innovative cooperation with the CAS in cultivating top-notch innovative talents, expanding international cooperation networks, and strengthening international education to explore new paths and set new benchmarks for institutional collaboration.
