NJU holds meeting for "Forging Ahead Initiative" summary and 2026 work plan

From January 27 to 28, the meeting for "Forging Ahead" Initiative summary and 2026 work plan was held on Nanjing University's Xianlin Campus. The meeting reviewed and summarized the progress of the "Forging Ahead Initaitive" over the past three years and conducted in-depth discussions on future plans. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Coucil and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Tan Zhemin, President of NJU and Academician of the CAS, attended the meeting and delivered speeches.

In his speech, Tan Tieniu pointed out that this meeting comprehensively reviewed the achievements since the implementation of the "Forging Ahead Initiative", deeply analyzed the current situation and existing problems, and systematically planned the goals and tasks of future work. Tan Tieniu noted that the practical results of the "Forging Ahead Initiative" enlighten us to adhere to the Party's leadership, people-centered approach, reform and innovation, proactive actions, and practical work. At the same time, we must clearly recognize the problems and deficiencies in the current work and further strengthen the awareness of mission, responsibility, reform and innovation, practical work, overcoming difficulties, and teamwork.

Tan Tieniu pointed out that 2026 is the first year of the "15th Five-Year Plan" and an important year for accelerating the construction of a world-class Nanjing University with Chinese characteristics. He emphasized that those who start sharply must plan for the end, and successful people plan from the beginning. Standing at a new starting point, we must continue to unite, strive for advancement, take action, and respond to opportunities, continuously advancing towards building a world-class Nanjing University with Chinese characteristics, making new and greater contributions to the comprehensive promotion of national strength and national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.

Tan Zhemin pointed out that in the past three years, the university's various educational undertakings have reached new heights, gaining high recognition and widespread praise from all sectors of society, with all faculty and staff demonstrating a positive and upward spirit. Facing new situations and requirements, we must combine the specific content of the "15th Five-Year Plan", address major issues in NJU's development, and incorporate the opinions and suggestions of grassroots faculty and staff to further revise and improve the "Forging Ahead Initiative", better responding to future challenges.

Tan Zhemin made specific arrangements for the administrative work in 2026. During the meeting, members of the university leadership team reported on the progress of the 19 specific plans of the "Forging Ahead Initiative" over the past three years based on their respective responsibilities and conducted in-depth discussions on the 2026 work plan and ideas.
