In the afternoon of October 14, Liu Xiaotao, Governor of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, carried out an investigation on the artificial intelligence industry in Nanjing, listening to opinions and suggestions from universities, research institutes, enterprises, and frontline researchers. He emphasized the need to thoroughly study and implement President Xi Jinping's important discussions on artificial intelligence and his important speech on Jiangsu's work, firmly grasp the development trends and patterns of artificial intelligence, lay out new avenues for AI development according to local conditions, and accelerate the development of new quality productive forces to promote high-quality development.
At Nanjing University's "Learning and Mining from Data (LAMDA)", Governor Liu Xiaotao affirmed the achievements made by NJU in scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation. He said that higher education institutions are important bases for scientific and technological innovation and talent cultivation. NJU has integrated artificial intelligence into all elements and processes of education and teaching, strengthened in-depth cooperation with leading enterprises, and reserved abundant talent for the province's artificial intelligence industry development. He expressed hope that NJU would further embrace artificial intelligence, continuously improve its scientific research level, and fully stimulate innovation and entrepreneurship potential. It is understood that LAMDA has extensive influence in domestic and international academic and industrial circles for its systematic research on basic theories and key technologies of machine learning, and is an important support for the construction of NJU's School of Artificial Intelligence.
During the investigation, Governor Liu emphasized that President Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the development of artificial intelligence and has made a series of important statements, which have pointed out the direction and provided guidance for promoting the development of artificial intelligence. All regions and departments should thoroughly implement the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee, earnestly implement the State Council's opinions on deeply implementing the "AI+" action, make good use of development opportunities, potential, and advantages, carry out in-depth investigation and research, scientifically explore development paths, promote the extensive and deep integration of artificial intelligence with various fields and industries of the economy and society, and help build an important base for developing new quality productive forces.
