On December 31, 2024 Faculty Retirement and Induction Ceremony was held on Nanjing University Xianlin campus. Tan Tieniu, Chair of NJU CPC Council and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and Tan Zhemin, President of NJU and Academician of CAS attended the ceremony.
148 faculty and staff members retired in 2024. Each of their names has been deeply engraved in NJU's history. Meanwhile, 586 new members have started to write their chapters in the story of NJU.
Tan Tieniu stated that the theme of this ceremony, “Salute, Inherit, Advance” represents NJU's respect to retired teachers and expectation for new teachers. He paid high tribute and heartfelt thanks to the retired teachers, and hoped that they could continue to contribute to NJU's development with their wisdom and experience. He wished that the new teachers could soon surge forward by honing their skills. Tan encouraged the whole university to adhere to the people-oriented principle and continuously enhance the sense of achievement, happiness and security of the staff.
Tan Zhemin, Chen Yunsong, Vice Chair of NJU CPC Council, and Jiao Ruihua, Director of NJU Organization Department and Director of United Front Work Department of NJU CPC Concil presented each retired teacher a commemorative booklet, in which photographs from different stages of life, archival materials, and colleatues' good wisheswere carefully selected and compiled.
Vice-presidents Lu Yanqing, Lu Xiancai, Suo Wenbin and Assistant President Li Bin awarded the certificate of appointment to new teachers and welcome them to join NJU. Vice-president Wang Zhenlin chaired the ceremony.
Zhang Hongxia from Institute of Education and Bian Jianbo from Labour Union shared their feelings and reflections on behalf of retired teachers. Ji Wei from School of Intelligence Science and Technology spoke on behalf of new teachers.
Microfilms crafted by NJU was also shown at the ceremony. With NJU anthem playing, the ceremony came to a close in a warm atmosphere.
