Speaker: Alan Walker Professor, University of Sheffield
Alan Walker holds the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He is also a Fellow of the British Academy and a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Learned Societies for the Social Sciences. Across the Atlantic, he has been recognized as a Fellow of the Gerontological Society of America. In 2002, he was jointly awarded the Queen's Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education. He made history as the first ever recipient of the ESRC's Impact Champion Award. The Social Policy Association later honored him with its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. He was also the first to receive the British Society of Gerontology's Annual Outstanding Achievement Award. Finally, the University of Sheffield bestowed upon him its first Outstanding Lifetime Achievement Award.
